Indomedia Article Sept 2008 (Indonesian Version)

Our New Lifestyle:
Watching TV Online!

Ok, here goes.

Pertama, makanan. Padang, sayur lodeh, tempe goreng and the gang…semua nggak sama kayak di rumah!

Emang sih, acara lokal Aussie bagus-bagus. Tapi masalahnya, student di sini jarang punya TV. Buat kami, lebih penting laptop dan internet. Hanya dengan kedua perangkat itulah gue bisa keep in touch sama ‘kampung halaman’.

Nah, once upon a time, gue chat sama seorang sahabat yang kuliah di Kuala Lumpur. Doi ini internetholic sejati. Tampangnya pun mirip dengan lambang Apple MacBook, yaitu pepaya (loh?). Singkat cerita, dia pamer kalo lagi chatting sambil nonton Kick Andy, salah satu program favorit gue di Metro TV. Maksud gue, doi nonton real-time, padahal gak punya TV. How come???

He gave me the address
www.worldip.tv. Gue cuma mikir, ‘yeah right...’ Males banget nonton TV pake komputer. Namanya aja ‘nonton TV’, ya mesti pake TV dong! Kalo pake laptop rasanya pasti nggak afdol laaah... Sekalian aja besok-besok suruh gue ‘nonton kompor’!

Geez, I’m dying to watch Indonesian series! Tapi gue masih ngerasa, yang model beginian pasti ribet ngurusnya. Metode pembayaran pasti ribet!!

Karena penasaran, gue cek aja langsung. Ternyata
www.worldip.tv itu pake teknologi video streaming. I totally understand, masalah teknologi emang “whatsoever” banget buat kita. Selanjutnya…watching TV is just a click away!

Coba deh log on ke
www.worldip.tv. Saking napsunya mau ‘nostalgia’ sama program-program Indo, gue langsung sign up. Real-time! HAHA, sekarang gue nggak kalah update sama nyokap gue di Indo tentang Super Twin (Indosiar)! And you know what? Gue juga bisa nonton film bioskop zaman SMA kayak Jomblo, Mengejar Matahari, Tentang Dia, and many more!

Sambil nunggu sampai saluran TV lokal Indo lengkap, gue suka iseng nonton acara TV negara lain, kayak Thailand, Malaysia, sampe China. Ternyata animo orang Asia besar banget buat enjoy nonton TV lewat situs WorldIP.

Our New Lifestyle- Watching TV Online

Dear Friends,

For most of you in Australia, perhaps you spotted WorldIP.TV on the COVER of INDOMEDIA Magazine! Well, we have translated the article to English and posted it hear to share! We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we have:

Ok here goes. When I first reached Aussie (australia), I thought "Cool!".I was so excited in the plane, whilst packing, and until I reached the airport. As soon as everything was settled; applied for uni, decorated the apartment, travelled around the city by bus, etc, then came what was expected: home-sick!!!

Oh my god, actually half of my life is spent staying overseas. First, food. "Padang" "Sayur Lodeh" "Tempe Goreng" and the rest... all are not the same as at home. I remember my friend's story, in Canada, who bought Gado Gado priced at 60,000 Rupiah. Even sadder is remember the peanut butter that is used normally used for "roti tawar"! As soon as she stopped eating, she has lost 30kg (joking ofcourse).

The second thing that is not acceptable... TV programs! As a loyal fan of National TV programs, I cannot watch Cinta Fitri, Cinta Bunga, and Cinta Monyet (harga diri jatuh). I also used to watch Indosiar's new program, Supermama. Once I got hooked on to the show, I had to go to Australia!

It's true though, Australian TV programs are good. But the problem is students here rarely have a Television set. For us, the most important thing is a laptop and internet. With these two, I can keep in touch with my hometown.

Here, once upon a time, I chatted with my hometown bestfriend who is at Kuala Lumpur. Doi (friend's name) is an internet-holic. Her face is even similar to her MacBook, like a papaya (umm)?. During out conversation, she was showing off the fact that she is watching "Kick Andy", one of her favourite programs on MetroTV. In other words, Doi is watching it in REAL TIME, even though she does not own a TV. How come???

He gave me the web address www.worldip.tv. As she said, in this site we can watch TV online through the Internet. I was thinking "Yeah Right"... Lazy to watch TV through the Intenet. It is called "Watching TV", so you have to have a TV right! If I use a laptop I'd feel really weird, might as well ask me to watch TV through a stove!!

As soon as I said "Lazy", Doi become frustrated and said "After this, is Playboy Kabel then Halo Selebriti". For your information, these two are my favourite reality shows and infotainment programs while I was at Indonesia. Geez, I'm dying to watch Indonesian series! But I still thought, this type of thing must be complicated to use. Payment method must be a headache!

Since I was considering it, I just went to the website to check it out. Actually, www.worldip.tv uses video streaming. I totally understand, anything to do with Technology is whatsoever laa.. Even if it's streaming, snorkelling, swimming, most important is that this website can be the TV's remote control. People in my planet or are travelling can still keep in touch with their latest news and events in our country. The only thing we need is a broadband internet connection on a computer or 3G handphone. So... watching TV is just a click away!

Try la, log onto www.worldip.tv. Due to my yearning for "nostalgia" brought about from watching Indonesian programs, I signed up instantly. Thank God, the process was not complicated. So satisfied from watching local programs (and I mean ALL local programs) from SCTV, Indosiar, MetroTV, and TV One. Real time! Haha, Now I do not lose with my mum in being updated with the latest Super Twin program (Indosiar)! And you know what? I can also even watch Movies which I've watched in high school such as Jomblo, Mengejar Matahari, Tentang Dia, and many more!

It is true that RCTI and other TV stations are not available right now. But according to the assistants from customer support, I should be expecting more any time soon! This is what made me feel welcome, because of the support from Worldip, it cares a lot about all of my questions for 24 hours (even my BF is not that caring).

While waiting for all my Indonesian TV channels are available, I can check out TV channels from other countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, and even China. Apparently there are a lot of Asians who love watching TV through WorldIP.

Crazy Isn't it? FINALLY someone out there thought of creating such a website. There are some drawbacks, but for me, WorldIP is easy, not complicated, and my foremost excuse... very cheap! (Since I am still a student). For this matter, my Internet-holic friend said, "Money is not everything...there's still Visa and Mastercard" :)

Anyway, right now me and my campus friends are enjoying our new lifestyle so much... watching TV Online!

Please email
marketing@worldip.tv for more information.

by the way, Happy Holidays!!

Thank You for your support.
